WHAT IS METAL SPINING?
Spinning is the shaping of sheet or tubular materials by exerting pressure with various tools while being rotated about their axes.
The parts processed by spinning are symmetrical with respect to the rotation axis like the geometric shapes of circular cut plates, pipes, etc.
Spinning includes many different methods. During the process, depending on the type of spinning, the material can be shaped by spinning on a particular mold or can be formed in the free space without particular mold geometry. The forming can be done cold or hot according to the requirements of the process. The main factors that make the spinning attractive in manufacturing are the fact that the materials are not removed and the manufacturing speed is high.
The tools used for shaping are fixed rotating or non-rotating fixed shapes by touching the work piece. Rotating tools are called “relays” or “balls”, in the industry and non-rotating tools are called “spoons”. While rotating tools are used in modern spinning machines, in hand spinning machines generally spoon type tools are used.
